Delivered by Enable Workplace Consulting this course is designed to cater for those who have been providing individual support services after crisis for at least two years and who have previously completed the Assisting Individuals in Crisis course (or equivalent).
Course content includes:
Key terms and concepts and highlights of recent developments
Listening strategies and empathetic communication techniques
Psychological reactions and advanced psychological triage
Developments in Psychological First Aid
Ethical issues and cautions in a risk minimisation framework
Complex situations such as suicide, complex bereavement, grief and terrorism
Follow-up and referrals; and
Self-care and sustainability.
This course is accredited with Crisis Intervention and Management Australasia (CIMA) and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and participants receive the appropriate CIMA attendance and ICISF completion certificates.
