This two day course is designed to cater for those providing group support services after crisis for at least two years and who have previously completed the Group Crisis Intervention (GCI) course (or equivalent).
Course content includes:
Review of CISM experience and learning since initial or earlier group crisis intervention training
Advanced incident assessment and strategic planning within wellbeing and risk management contexts
Planning for the pre-incident and post-incident responses
Focused practice in complex scenarios around large and small group interventions including group psychological first aid
Differentiating between trauma and crisis responses
Community effects in the short and long term
Advanced minimising risk and maximising benefits of group interventions, and
Secondary traumatisation and protecting the helper long term.
All courses are accredited with Crisis Intervention Management Australasia (CIMA) and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and participants receive the appropriate CIMA attendance and ICISF completion certificates.
